I have been a maker of graphics in all forms for the bigger part of my life and it was a natural extension of my love of visuals to end up in a graphic field. I studied Visual Communication with a focus on graphic- and web design at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001.
I found a job as a layout artist at an auctioneering house where I designed advertisements and marketing material for upcoming auctions. Two years later I became an in-house graphic designer for a consulting firm building the brand, designing marketing material, doing layouts of reports, and designing the company website. Fast forward another couple of years I found myself working as a freelance graphic designer creating logos, brand identities, posters, invitations, social media graphics, and websites for a wide variety of clients.
I was born and raised in South Africa, but in 2017 my family took an extended adventure and moved to New Zealand and liked it so much that we became citizens. We love the friendly and relaxed environment we now call home. Since moving I focused more on building our new home life but continued to support old (and some new) clients - mostly from South Africa with design jobs. I have been experimenting and honing my skills in photography, illustration, and more recently animation, and hope to do much more with it on a professional level. I would love to continue my graphic design career in New Zealand!
On the home front, I've been married to my best friend for 12 odd years and we have a ten-year-old daughter. We love animals and have a fifteen-year-old "grandpa" golden retriever, a bossy tabby cat, and a happy two-year-old golden retriever girl together. I enjoy being outside walking the dogs, doing nature trails, hiking, or mountain biking. I still love making a mess with paint and seeing what the colours turn into.
